Day-wise Itinerary

Day 1 – Chandigarh to Kotgarh / Narkanda

Your Himalayan adventure begins as we assemble at Chandigarh and set off towards the beautiful apple orchards of Kotgarh / Narkanda. As the plains slowly disappear behind us, the winding mountain roads introduce us to the spectacular landscapes of Himachal Pradesh. Enjoy mesmerizing views of the Sutlej Valley, lush forests, and charming Himalayan villages before reaching Kotgarh/Narkanda for our first overnight stay. Relax, breathe in the crisp mountain air, and get ready for the unforgettable journey ahead.

Day 2 – Kotgarh to Kalpa

After breakfast, we continue our drive along the legendary Indo-Tibet Highway—one of the most scenic mountain roads in India. The road follows the mighty Sutlej River through deep gorges and dramatic cliffs before reaching Karcham, where the Baspa and Sutlej rivers meet. From here, we climb towards the picturesque village of Kalpa, famous for its breathtaking views of the sacred Kinner Kailash range. As the sun sets behind the snow-covered peaks, you’ll realize why Kalpa is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Himachal.

Day 3 – Kalpa – Nako – Gue – Tabo

Today the landscape changes dramatically as lush green mountains gradually transform into the rugged beauty of the cold desert. We visit the peaceful Nako Lake before heading to the tiny village of Gue, home to India’s famous 500-year-old naturally preserved Buddhist Mummy. Crossing the spectacular Khab Bridge, where the Spiti and Sutlej rivers merge, we officially enter the mystical land of Spiti. By evening, we arrive at Tabo, home to one of the oldest functioning Buddhist monasteries in the world.

Day 4 – Tabo – Dhankar – Kaza

Begin your morning by exploring the magnificent Tabo Monastery, often referred to as the “Ajanta of the Himalayas” for its priceless murals and ancient Buddhist art. We then drive to the breathtaking Dhankar Monastery, dramatically perched on the edge of a cliff overlooking the Spiti Valley. The panoramic views from here are nothing short of spectacular. Continuing through the valley, we finally reach Kaza—the vibrant heart of Spiti Valley—where we’ll spend the night.

Day 5 – Kaza – Hikkim – Komic – Langza – Kaza

Today is dedicated to exploring some of the highest inhabited villages in the world. Our first stop is Hikkim, where you’ll have the unique opportunity to send a postcard from the World’s Highest Post Office. Next comes Komic, one of the highest motorable villages on Earth, surrounded by endless Himalayan landscapes. We then visit Langza, instantly recognizable by its towering Buddha statue overlooking the valley. This ancient village was once beneath the Tethys Sea and is famous for its millions-of-years-old marine fossils. Return to Kaza after an unforgettable day exploring these remarkable high-altitude villages.

Day 6 – Kaza – Key Monastery – Chicham Bridge – Chandratal

After breakfast, we visit the iconic Key Monastery, the largest and most famous monastery in Spiti Valley. Perched dramatically on a hilltop, it offers breathtaking views of the surrounding valley and houses centuries-old manuscripts, paintings, and Buddhist relics. We then drive across the engineering marvel of Chicham Bridge, Asia’s highest suspension bridge, spanning a deep canyon that leaves every visitor amazed.

Our adventure continues across the majestic Kunzum Pass, where colourful prayer flags flutter against a backdrop of snow-covered peaks. By evening, we reach the magical Chandratal Lake—famously known as the Moon Lake. Surrounded by towering mountains and crystal-clear waters, Chandratal is one of the most beautiful alpine lakes in India. Tonight, we experience the true magic of the Himalayas with an overnight stay in comfortable camps beneath one of the clearest, star-filled skies you’ll ever witness.

Day 7 – Chandratal – Atal Tunnel – Manali

Wake up early to witness the first rays of sunlight illuminating the pristine waters of Chandratal—a sight that photographs can never truly capture. After breakfast, we begin our return journey, crossing Kunzum Pass once again before driving through the world-famous Atal Tunnel, one of India’s greatest engineering achievements. As we descend into the lush green valleys of Manali, the dramatic contrast between Spiti’s barren mountains and Himachal’s dense forests becomes immediately apparent. Enjoy a relaxed evening in Manali, reminiscing about the incredible experiences of the past week. Overnight stay at Manali / Mandi.

Day 8 – Manali to Chandigarh

After early breakfast, we begin our drive back to Chandigarh, carrying with us countless memories, breathtaking photographs, and stories that will last a lifetime.

As the Himalayan peaks slowly fade into the distance, you’ll realize that Spiti isn’t just another destination—it is an experience that changes the way you look at mountains, travel, and adventure.

The roads may end here, but the memories of Spiti will stay with you forever.
